Our journey to becoming a "crunchy" family.

When Dallas made his way into our life we started "changing" almost everything we had learned before because the whole society is mainstream. You bottle-feed, you vaccinate your children, they sleep alone, sleep train them, put them on a schedule, put them in their pack n play, and so on and so on.

We started becoming "crunchy" 2.5 years ago when Cali arrived on 08/08/08. We knew right away we wanted to breastfeed, co-sleep and babywear, a few months pasted and I bought my first CLOTH DIAPERS. I was ecstatic! We also started our EC journey at 12 months!

We got pregnant when Cali was 16 months, and I knew from the moment I found out it was a BOY! So another "crunchy" item to add to the list, we knew we definitely were NOT going to circumcise, we wanted to keep our precious baby whole and intact. After all, that is normal! God created boy's to have foreskins for a reason.

After Dallas was born, he was kept whole, in cloth diapers, being breastfed & we were babywearing. I started looking up more ways to be natural & crunchy. I wish I knew about vaccinations before both of my children were born. But I can happily say we are not vaxing anymore after many talks and researching ingredients. The risks are not worth it. Moving on I had mentioned to my mother in-law that I wanted to make my own organic baby foods due to recent research on jarred foods that contain pesticides. My mother in-law got my a baby food mill, and my Grandma sent a gift card & a awesome book on how to make baby food. I had looked up some recipes before but its pretty simple unless you are trying to combine flavors. With the gift card I bought the Magic Bullet, and it makes the best puree's!

It's official...I AM A CLOTH DIAPERiNG, BABYWEARING, BREASTFEEDING, INTACTIVIST AKA NON CIR'ING, ATTACHMENT PARENTING, NON-VAXING, ORGANIC BABYFOOD MAKING, ERFing, EC, CO-SLEEPING CRUNCHY MOMMA! (oh and we are doing water births from here on out..wahoo! )

Healthy Living

I must all the credit to my Mom's Circle back in Florida for opening new doors to a healthier type of living, eating, and our basic well-being. I was only to go to the meet-ups for about 2 or 3 months before we left for Texas.

After just the first few meeting I found out that vaxing your child is an option. There is NO FEDERAL LAW on immunizations in United States. Do you even know what they put in vaccines?
Here is a few ingredients:

The MMR shot contains beef heat infusion and MSG (monosodium glutamate)
,which is being studied for developmental malformation and reproductive effects.A neurotoxin.

The Chicken Pox shot contains embryonic guinea pig cell cultures.

The DTaP shot contains FORMALDEHYDE!!

I of course jumped right on my computer and started researching ingredients that are in the vaccines. I came across a few blogs in honor of babies that have died due to the adverse reactions to the shots. One heartbreaking story was a couple who had twin boys both given the Hep B shot just seconds to minutes a apart and one of the twin boys swelled up nearly 6 times his size in just 72 hours he was gone. Why do babies NEED shots right after birth? Hep B has aluminum, mercury, and formaldehyde, that is pretty lethal on a tiny 6 pound baby.

Imagine if the nurse said "We are giving your baby Jack today a shot that contains formaldehyde, heavy metals, and mercury and they adverse reactions could be death, anaphylactic shock, seizures, and much more, shall we continue?" HELL NO!!

“Doctors put drugs of which they know little, into the bodies of which they know less, for diseases of which they know nothing at all.”--Voltaire

I feel so much more informed and I am forever grateful for it!

My Goal

Since moving to Texas, I told Mick it was so generous of him to let me stay home for 3 years but it was now my time to help. Our working schedules were going to be tricky and both of us would be lacking sleep. I thought I never actually wanted to leave them with anyone but Mick, but something had to give. I got a fabulous idea to watch 2 babies during the day. That way Im home with my babies, and we still get all the sleep we regularly do. So far it has been a great fit for the Vaes family.

And here we are..

Finally I have a small moment to myself, to update my blog.
We made the move to Texas, it was an awesome trip. My father in-law came with us and helped us out. We stopped in New Orleans for lunch at The Hard Rock, of course we went to Bourbon St. Yes, I must admit I took my 2 year old and my 4 month old to party street central. We were there for a couple of hours during the day, I couldnt believe how many people were there, it was the loudest steet I have ever been on.

Cali and Dallas did amazing during the trip no crying at all. They were the best! We got the uhaul unpacked in just a few short hours and went to BJ's for some dinner and some quality time with Pop before his flight back to Florida.

And here we are today enjoying the Texas life. Its a nice area we live in. Everything is in walking distance! The mall is across the street, which I love taking Cali there to run run run after the sun has gone done. Im so glad I hate shopping in malls because Im not tempted to buy anything..OK..so I lie..I LOVE SAKRU..its a Japanese grill. But still Im not spending $60.00 on a pair of jeans, Im just spending a few bucks on my delicous food!

We are really enjoying the Texas life!

I gladly accepted!

I figure I better update this before our move to Texas because I could be without the internet for a week or so.

The plan is to finish packing tomorrow & head to Gainesville early Thursday morning. I have a lot of cleaning and scrubbing to do. But for the most part the truck is packed & we just need to add the beds & the washer/dryer.

Well of course we just had to get sick before our move. Husband was amazing today and did all the packing. (in the truck) Im really excited to move to a new state and know no one, its very exciting to me.

A momma has messaged me via facebook and told me that there is a cloth diaper store in Houston, I told husband and he said we can go there but we can't buy anything. I gladly accepted the offer :] Im hoping to start my own cloth diaper meet up group in Texas so that way I can connect with natural momma's like me who also parent the way I do.

Its late I better go to sleep before Dallas wakes up!
